Acceptable Forms of Authorization - PRE:
-
Signed letter of acceptance from the Federal Aviation Administration
National Examiner Board (NEB). The original letter must be destroyed by the test
proctor after the applicant has been issued an official test report. A copy
of the letter may be retained by the testing center.
- NOTE: The NEB letter is good for two years from the date of the letter.

Failed, passing or expired Airman Knowledge Test Report, provided
the applicant still has the ORIGINAL test report in his/her possession. (See
RETESTING explanation(s) below.)
Acceptable Forms of Authorization - RIG, RMC & RMP

FAA Form 8610-2 including endorsement acknowledging eligibility for testing.
- NOTE:
Block V on the form is required
to be completed, including date,
inspector signature and office
identification. (Refer to Order
8080.6D, Appendix 1, Figure
15, for sample form.)
- Failed test report; OR passing test report; OR expired test report
(pass or failure), provided the applicant still has the ORIGINAL test report
in his/her possession. (See RETESTING explanation(s) below.)
Acceptable Forms of Authorization (for ALL tests listed above):
- "Expired test/credit" letter issued by the Airmen Certification Branch (in lieu of a duplicate Airman
Knowledge Test Report).
Retesting:
- Retests do not require a 30-day waiting period if the applicant
presents a signed statement from an airman holding a certificate & rating
sought by the applicant. This statement must certify that the airman has given
the applicant additional instruction in each of the subjects failed, and that
the airman considers the applicant ready for retesting. Requires a 30-day waiting
period for retesting if the applicant presents a failed test report without
a signed statement.
- Applicants taking retests AFTER FAILURE are required to submit
the applicable score report indicating failure to the testing center prior to
retesting. The original failed test report must be retained by the proctor
and attached to the applicable sign-in/out log. The latest test taken will
reflect the official score.
- Applicants retesting IN AN ATTEMPT TO ACHIEVE A HIGHER PASSING
SCORE may retake the same test for a better grade after 30 days. The latest
test taken will reflect the official score. Applicants are required to submit
the ORIGINAL applicable score report indicating previous passing score to the
testing center prior to testing. Testing center personnel must collect and
destroy this report prior to issuing the new test report.
