CATS and the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners Sign Agreement to Implement Computer-Based Testing
Burlingame, CA, September 16, 2004 -- Computer Assisted Testing Service (CATS) is pleased to announce an agreement with the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners (BCE) to make the transition to computer-based testing (CBT) for the BCE's Chiropractic Law and Professional Practice Examination. The first BCE CBT candidates took their examinations at CATS test centers in California last February. Since that time, the BCE has extended its contract with CATS, effective June 1, 2004. CATS has 60 locations in California and a total of 410 domestic testing sites.
Commenting on the agreement, Tom Bowen, CATS Chief Operating Officer states: "CATS is pleased to assist the Board of Chiropractic Examiners in making this important testing transition. By extending their agreement with CATS, it reinforces the confidence the BCE has in our ability to competently and efficiently serve their candidates. We look forward to a long and prosperous business relationship with the BCE."
Kim Smith, Executive Director of the Board of Chiropractic Examiners, states: "The BCE is delighted to be working with CATS in the administration of its California Law and Professional Practice Examination. Our affiliation with CATS has not only reduced BCE staff workload, but has also streamlined and shortened the process applicants must follow to gain licensure in California. BCE also looks forward to a long and prosperous business relationship with CATS."
For over ten years, CATS has established an exemplary record for its clients by providing CBT delivery with accuracy, consistency, and an unblemished examination security record. As an important business partner to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) since 1993, CATS was instrumental in making the transition for converting the prestigious Airmen Knowledge Tests from paper-and-pencil test delivery to CBT delivery. CATS is committed to providing government, industry, and credentialing organizations choices and options in their testing program. CATS has evolved to now offer end-to-end examination services, to include fixed and remote-based CBT, test development and research, and construction of new test item types.
Established by Initiative Act in 1922, the Board of Chiropractic Examiners is a quasi-law enforcement agency mandated to enforce laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of chiropractic health care in California in an effort to protect consumers from incompetent chiropractic practice. Currently, there are approximately 14,000 licensed chiropractors in California, and the BCE examines 600-700 applicants per year.
